The Winnipesaukee View, Issue #001 September 10, 2007 |
Welcome to the Winnipesaukee View Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer has passed us by. But that doesn't mean the fun on Lake Winnipesaukee has to end. There are still plenty of warm days ahead and many opportunities to get out on the lake. Most of the summer tourists have departed and the area is quieter. Many places close between September and October, but there is still plenty open. Sailing is a great way to enjoy the late summer and early fall. This time of the year normally has the best wind days for exceptional sailing. There are still calm, sunny days, called Indian summer, to do some waterskiing or motor boating. It's very relaxing when you can sit out in the middle of the broads without a ton of boat traffic. The water isn't choppy and you can go across the lake faster. Lake Winnipesaukee is a great place for leaf-peeping! The M/S Mount Washington offers cruises to view the foliage, the Hobo Railroad, driving around the lake, and just boating by yourself. Enjoy the day leaf-peeping and then get a bite to eat at one of the restaurants or bring a picnic lunch for your boating trip. Columbus Day weekend is a popular time for viewing the fall foliage around Lake Winnipesaukee. You'll find many establishments that cater to the leaf peepers. In addition, there are still a few craft fairs and a boat show...
